Instead of buying a football tee, i decided to make one. But when i looked online, there weren't any plans for the type of tee i wanted. There were only plans for the place-kicker tee that just hold the ball on the ground, and tees for rugby. I was looking for the rubber kick-off tees that NFL kickers use.

I knew i wouldn't be able to use rubber. Hard to get a big 3" thick chunk of rubber, and even if i did, it would be impossible to cut and shape. But i did have a sheet of hard foam board. It was cheap, light weight (so nobody would hurt their foot if they kicked it) and easy to cut and shape.

It only takes a couple minutes to make the tee. Just cut it to size 5" x 6" rectangle. Then taper the sides to 4" x 5" at the top. Then cut out the recess where the ball sits (a cone shape). Then cut out the recess in the front so the ball flies out without anything in the way. It's so fast and easy to make, might as well make a couple, in case one breaks or gets lost.
