Scene from Derek Jarman's film of Christopher Marlowe's Edward II. Edward's lover Piers Gaveston has been banished and this is their final meeting and dance. Annie Lennox appears to sing her version of Cole Porter's Every Time We Say Goodbye. It's serendipitous as Annie originally recorded the song for the Red, Hot and Blue project and the accompanying video was supposed to be directed by Derek Jarman. Unfortunately at the time of shooting the video Derek was too unwell to shoot it so another director stepped in.

When it came to Edward II, Annie agreed to appear for the song. As Derek said in his journal during the filming:

"I had always wanted to work with Annie Lennox, so imagine how surprised I was to be asked to do the little film for her Cole Porter song on Leigh Blake's "Red, Hot and Blue", raising money for AIDS research. And there I was ill in St. Mary's and the sun shone outside the window and Annie came to see me, so retiring the nurses didn't recognise her...and now her she is singing the song for Edward II.

Whatever was she doing here? Well, if you were King for a day who would you want to sing sing for you? Steven (who played Edward) said he had fallen in love. Andrew (Gaveston) played this scene with subtlety, I hope you can feel a little pity for him.

A very sweet girl from Outrage came with her girlfriend, I think her name was Becca, they were very happy.

I brought in my yellow pyjamas Tilda (Swinton) gave me in hospital. Andrew chose to wear the sad green ones".
