Hello my dear friends.
I am happy to present you a new story. Our guest in this story is Mr. Stanley.
Stanley 9-1/2 Block (1872 - 1981). We can call him antique or old or vintage. Anyway...
I really love this block plane and decided to give my best effort.
In this type of work, I keep functionality above aesthetics.
Especially some parts of hand planes should never be thinned.
The thickness of the blade, the geometry of the blade and the throat are very important. I always prefer to sharpen the blade without using any jigs and I always make it razor sharp :)

A little part of the adjustable throat was missing when I got it but It doesn't matter, it can be adjusted manually.

Let's leave aside the technical points of the restoration. I always decide on the aesthetic approach completely on the way. I am ready to listen to all your thoughts and approaches.

I also have a surprise for you. We worked with a very well known craftsman on this story. I won't write his name, surprise, but many of you have already guessed :) @meinemechaniker

As you know I am a woodworker too and tool maker and also restorator. Deeply in love with fine woodworking. This work was a pleasure for me and wanted to share with you. As a full-time craftsman , I told you the story the way I lived it. So this is not just a restoration video, few days of a craftsman.
I hope you like our story.

Don't forget to like and subscribe if you like it. i would be glad.
I greet you all sincerely.
