Coffee is omnipresent in our daily lives, but do we know where it comes from and how it is harvested and produced? By giving a voice to those who advocate ethical and environmentally friendly coffee, the documentary reveals us the backstage of the coffee market and of an ancestral tradition of the production of this black gold: shade grown coffee. Shade grown coffee is a vital part of the coffee-growing process that impacts not just the beans themselves, but the entire ecosystem they grow in. The documentary takes us on a journey through South America to discover the sustainable coffee farming, from Nicaragua, through El Salvador and Panama.
