Wieland Stolzenburg is a relationship psychologist from Munich. He addresses the observation that people generally blame their environment for their emotional state: especially for unpopular feelings as sadness or anger. And he recommends the opposite in his so-called “milkbottle model”: to take over responsibility for one’s emotions. People react differently in a specific situation. While one person might get upset, another person might feel undisturbed. Whatever a person says or does to you is being reflected by your own personal background. Whatever you choose to take on, is your responsibility.

When we feel frustrated or are in a bad mood, the issue lies within ourselves, and it completely depends on ourselves to find a solution. At TEDxMünster, relationship psychologist, Wieland Stolzenburg advocates the fact that people should take responsibility for their own emotions and become independent from other people´s behaviour.
