Most of the film was shot on location at the Medfield State hospital in Massachusetts. The hospital was also the state’s very first mental asylum, and thanks to that, the cast and crew were unsettled with the location. This fit the filmmakers’ desired feeling since they wanted a haunted-house movie with a bunch of hormonal teenagers.
