CSFI FinTech Review: key deadline looms for crypto, scaling digital sustainability & the rise of a new disruptor

Why you should watch: Our panel has an early go at dissecting what the latest news on crypto from the FCA, PRA and the Bank of England mean for the industry. Clarity of the regulation of digital assets such as cryptocurrency is even more urgent at a time when Ukraine has announced the legalization of the crypto sector, while concerns continue to rise about the ability of using crypto assets to circumvent sanctions on Russia’s financial sector. Other topics discussed include sustainability in FinTech, latest achievements of the London City, whether digital collectibles are here to stay, and Apple’s acquisition of Credit Kudos, the UK challenger credit bureau founded in 2015.

Sid Venkataramakrishnan is the FT’s banking and fintech correspondent, covering topics including challenger banks, the future of cash and stable coins. Prior to this, he covered capital markets, European technology and was a leader writer.

Robert Churcher is building a portfolio of high growth companies for PwC UK. He was previously the FinTech Strategy lead for PwC UK. He is a thought leadership author, keynote speaker and media commentator for the firm, having produced and contributed to a wide range of papers on FinTech, InsurTech, the future of the financial services industry and the changing nature of the capital markets industry.

Leighton Hughes is the FinTech Policy Advisor for the City of London Corporation. He has previously worked as Head of Programme/FinTech at the CSFI and as an Economist at TS Lombard.
