As this tip is coming out on Halloween, in the spirit of the day, I am answering the question, “is there any way to make the treats that you pass out at your door tax deductible?”

Years ago I started a survey about who thought Halloween treats were deductible and a surprising number of people did think they could get a deduction. If you are passing out treats from your office then I suspect you could claim the treats as promotion. What if you work from home? Then I think you need to include some promotional material with your goodie bags. Maybe a business card or a sticker from your business explaining what you do.

Small businesses owners should always be marketing. You never know where your next great client may come from.
