BCA Hall of Famer Cicero Murphy faces Mike Zuglan at the 1992 US Open 14.1 Championship at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on August 22, 1992.

The great Cicero Murphy was a straight pool champion, dating back to his teens in the 1950’s. In 1965, Murphy won the World Straight Pool Championship (in his first time competing in the event). Take note of the pronounced pause before his final stroke on each shot. That was rare back in those days and would be known as the “hesitation stroke”.

While Mike Zuglan is known most these days for running the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour, he was a highly accomplished pool player back in the 90’s and was capable of running 100 and competing with the best players in the sport.

This is a “player review” match, with Zuglan in the commentary booth with “Weenie Beanie” Bill Staton after the match.
