Today we are going back to basics! Whether you have just bought your first Apple Watch or are upgrading from an older generation, this is the video for you! I will cover everything you need to know from the the Apple Watch’s top essential features to showing you how to optimise your watch in terms of settings, battery life and performance. I will be demonstrating this on my Apple Watch SE, however this video also applies to the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch Series 5, Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Series 3 - all currently supported Apple Watch models! This video will make your experience better and help you get the most out of your Apple Watch and WatchOS. First things first, the apple watch will come separate from the band. Sport band comes in 2 parts. Slide either end into the watch and click into place. Super easy to use mechanism that apple has kept the same over the years - many first and third party bands to choose. To remove the band, press in on either of these buttons and slide to remove. Now that the watch is assembled let’s set it up! First thing is press and hold the side button to power up and bring Apple Watch close to iPhone. On my iPhone 13 I get an on screen prompt. Tap setup for myself. Using the camera, align the watch to pair. It is now paired! Swipe from left to right to switch between watch faces. Press and hold on watch face and swipe to right to add a new watch face. Range of watch faces, some with many complications to show lots of data, others are more clear and look more like a traditional timepiece. Pro tip, use less complications to save battery. Swipe down for notifications. Swipe to left to clear. Swip up for control centre. Quick access to many features and see battery percentage. Can turn on power reserve, ping your iPhone, turn on fash light and more. Click into the digital crown to enter the home screen. Press again to return to watch face. Install apps right from the built-in apple watch app store. Press side button to access multi tasking. Quickly switch between two most recent open apps by double clicking the digital crown. Double press the side button to bring up Apple Pay. Press and hold side button to turn off, show medical ID or start and emergency call. Add new watch face. Notification (only allow important notification on wrist). General. Turn on auto updates. Background app refresh. Turn on bedside mode. Enable screenshot. Keep brightness in middle. Shorten wake duration. Turn off Hey Siri - save battery, instead use digital crown. Turn on emergency sos features - hope to never need but reassuring to have. I like heart features on but can turn off to save battery. Play song on iPhone now playing on AW. Workout app - scroll through tap to start. Weather app - syncs data from iPhone. Calculator - neat tip feature. Heart app. Voice memos. Create and send new message. Use Siri to create a new route. Phone dial pad - uses iPhone to make call, GPS+ cellar model can make calls independently. All of this should give you a good idea on how to setup, optimise and use you new Apple Watch! For me the Apple Watch has become an accessory that I can’t imagine my day without. It is the finer things like, Apple Pay, Maps, receiving Notifications and Siri that make the Apple Watch an essential product I use every day with joy!
