So, you guys want to see a 21-year-old Drift King drift a Ferrari? Check this out...

Welcome to Fullspeed. I'm your host Steve Formsma, and today we're out at Harris Hill Raceway in San Marcos, Texas, where we're with the Longhorn Racing Academy and we've got a great day planned. I get to ride along; I get to drive; I'll take some classes. We'll have a great time. Come on, let's go for a ride.

Drive 30 minutes south of Austin and you'll come to the Harris Hill Raceway - a 1.8 mile asphalt road course situated in the picturesque hills of San Marcos, Texas. The course features over 150 feet of elevation changes, 11 increasing and decreasing radius turns, positive and negative cambers, one long sweeper and several blind corners.

Now, I have to be honest. I don't really know what all of these terms mean, but I'm about to find out.

I'm here today for a specific purpose: To take a performance driving course at the Longhorn Racing Academy. Working in conjunction with Harris Hill, the Longhorn Racing Academy is a unique program that offers advanced driving instruction and the opportunity to drive the super car of your dreams.

Meet Harrison Johnson, Operations Manager and driving instructor at Longhorn. He's also a pro drifter and the Lone Star Drift pro-am drifting champion. He does things with cars that challenge the laws of physics. Like this sweet 360-degree drift.

Oh, and there's also this guy: Danny Sufi. He's just 13 years old but he's already a racing champion in his own right. He started driving when he's eight, starting racing at 10, won the Harris Hill stock Miata championship last year and is now competing in the Texas region Spec Miata series.

What's the difference between a spec Miata and a stock Miata? Let's let Danny answer that one...

So, a spec Miata has basically all the safety standards: cage, racing seats, all the safety gear that you need. But, the main difference is that you have a stiffer suspension - a full-on race suspension - and then you have a cold air intake to get more power. It's a very unique skill for a 13-year-old to have.

As long as he can see over the wheel this kid can drive it. Look for him coming to a racing podium near you very very soon.

The most common reason that people come out to do our experiences is just to drive a cool car. You know, most people have never driven on a racetrack. Most people have never driven any sort of exotic cars. So, they come out here, they
drive the Lambo, they drive the Ferrari, the Porsche... There's a whole bunch of different cars to choose from. And it's just always a great experience for them.

No experience is necessary at all. We teach you everything you need to know here on site. We're not here to hold you back at all. We really want the customer to drive these cars to their limits safely. Get out there and really just see what those amazing machines can do.

I'm out here with my instructor... What car do you think we should take out on track today?

You know, I was thinking we probably take the Ferrari.

Ferrari?

Yeah.

458?

The 458.

Harrison, let me ask you something: How old are you?

21.

And you have the keys as a 21-year-old to a Ferrari 458?

I'm a pretty lucky kid.

I'd say. Is it this Ferrari?

Yep. That's it.

Let's go for a ride...
