A showjumper with a spinal defect who sued her mother’s GP - claiming she should never have been born - has made legal history after a court ruled in her favour. In a case that will have lasting implications for family doctors, Evie Toombes sued Dr Philip Mitchell over his failure to recommend her mother take the vital supplement, folic acid. Her lawyers argued that if he had advised her properly, she would have postponed getting pregnant. Following the ruling, Evie is joining us in the studio to discuss the historic ‘wrongful conception’ case.
