Today we're looking at the current state of the video game industry and making observations in regards to a particular trend which has become increasingly prevalent in big budget, AAA games as of late. That being the heavy emphasis on remakes, remasters and an overall lack of originality in comparison to games of the past. Examples that we'll be focusing on in this video are games like Fortnite, which is a game that can ultimately only ever be enjoyed as a sum of its parts. The last of us, which is still defined as a masterpiece to this day, despite having rather lackluster and derivative gameplay. And also more positive examples like Helldivers 2 and Iron Lung, where both external factors, as well as the occasional acknowledgment of their unoriginality, leads way to an interesting hybrid of a game that could only ever be experienced in this modern era of video games.
