The Civic Type R is 8mm lower and 90mm wider than the Civic e:HEV, and 13mm lower and 15mm wider than the previous generation Civic Type R. The low, muscular appearance is achieved thanks to wide wheel arches that flare out over the matt black 19-inch, lightweight, high-rigidity reverse rim alloy wheels.
These unique Type R wheels are fitted with 265/30R/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires with compound specially developed for the Type R.

The effect of the engine improvements is higher performance at high revs and lower fuel consumption at low revs, and the highest power-to-weight ratio in its class. The engine produces 329 hp at 6500 rpm, while 420 Nm is available at just 2200 rpm and remains available up to 4000 rpm, while the engine continues to run freely up to 7000 rpm. As a result, the Civic Type R accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 275 km/h .

These figures are also achieved thanks to a revised six-speed manual transmission that has a number of new features designed exclusively for the new Type R that significantly improve smooth shifting and shift load. A new lightweight flywheel is 18% lighter than previous generations, reducing inertia by 25% and making the VTEC Turbo even more responsive.

A revised rev-match system with auto blipper provides a perfectly matched RPM when downshifting through the gears, helping the car to balance as it enters a corner. Particular attention has been paid to switching from 2nd to 1st gear . The high-strength gearbox also features a high-rigidity lever, an optimized shift pattern and a unique Type R shift mechanism to improve shifting. The feel has also been improved with an optimized spring rate for gear changes with a more satisfying feel.

Despite being the most powerful Civic Type R ever, Honda engineers have improved the vehicle's emissions and fuel economy. The result of extensive technological improvements is CO 2 emissions of just 186 g/km, with a fuel consumption of 8.2 l/100 km (WLTP).

Lightweight, rigid chassis tuned for ultimate performance
The latest generation Civic is designed to ensure that the chassis, steering and suspension deliver superior performance, dynamic response and feedback in all driving situations. It has been developed with a particular focus on precise steering feedback and more confident handling, enhancing the driver's sense of connection with the car – an effect that is reinforced in the all-new Type R.

The standard model's 35mm longer wheelbase, compared to the previous Type R, and multi-link rear suspension combine with a significantly wider rear wheelbase to provide better cornering stability than its predecessor. This has been refined through repeated testing on both the Autobahn and NΓΌrburgring.

The twin-axle front suspension, configured to minimize torque steer, has been revised with new lower link arms optimized in shape and stiffness to achieve 16% greater camber stiffness over the previous generation Type R. The front also features a geometry revised to the millimetre, to accommodate the 265/30R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and provide increased engine torque.

To aid cooling of the 2.0-litre VTEC turbo engine, the aluminum bonnet now features a vent, which also works in conjunction with the large lower grille to optimize airflow and provide true negative lift over the front.

The design of the lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels has also been optimized to maximize the performance of the 265/30R19 Michelin tyres. The new wheels are an evolution of those on the previous generation Limited Edition model and feature a stepless reverse rim to improve stiffness. Their design improves vehicle control by stabilizing tire contact pressure when cornering. Visually, this design also makes the wheel appear to have a larger diameter.
