I think that each generation will always find the right voices for the moment. Don't forget, at the same time Dr. Leary was on the scene so was Bob Dylan and the Stones. From what I know about Terence, mainly through conversations with people who knew him well, he never wanted to be a “psychedelic guru”. Unfortunately, a lot of us more or less forced it on him. On several of his recordings you will hear him say, “Be your own guru.” And as you point out, the Internet certainly empowers that!
I've personally never encountered anything in the same league as MDMA when it comes to empathy. However, I have never tried MDA, which I'm told may be a close second.
My favorite place on the planet, although all of Ireland is close second, is near the ruins at Palenque, Mexico.
