Joining us today is our music expert, Tyler Walsh, to break down what is going on between Universal Music Group and TikTok.

Users of the popular video-sharing app will no longer have music from Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weekend, or Adele to accompany their videos after a contract disagreement between the platform and the artists’ music label.

Universal said contract negotiations with TikTok had centered around three main issues: compensation for artists and songwriters, the effects of artificial intelligence, and online safety.

TikTok is proposing a rate for artists that is a fraction of what other platforms pay.

The winners are the Label and the platform.

The losers: Artists and Fans
