We get many questions from customers on what our favorite plants to use in North Texas are. So many Ken has recorded a "Best Plants Series."

Today we wanted to show you one of our favorite plants to use, the Vitex Tree. The Vitex gets asked about a lot in late spring and summer when it is blooming. We love the Vitex Tree because it is Texas tough. It is what we like to call flame-proof. It does get large (wide,) so make sure you put in a spot with some space. It doesn't need much maintenance. All you need to do is prune off the suckers it will want to grow at the bottom and let the top grow. If you don't trim the top, it will grow into a beautiful shape.
