If this movie becomes centered around fluidity and adaptability as a lesson to learn from water, all the plot and character arcs line up perfectly. Jake and Neytiri must learn from Kiri and Lo’ak that if they don’t adapt, they’ll suffer losses like Neteyam. Quaritch triumphs by adapting to the new circumstance of discovering this tool in the form of his son, and Spider goes too far with his fluidity, losing himself and leaving the Na’vi way.
