Coaster, San Diego County's commuter railroad, acquired two F59PHI type locomotives from EMD in late 2001. These locomotives, number 3001 and 3002, assisted Coaster's five original F40PHM-2C locomotives in pulling commuters along the Pacific Ocean. In 2023, the two locomotives were replaced with Siemens Mobility SC-44 Charger units after over 20 years of service. In this video, we will see both 3001 and 3002 in their final years of operation as they pull trains along the coast.
