Rodarius Marcell Green (born August 27, 1998), better known as Rod Wave, is a platinum-selling recording artist originally from St. Petersburg, Florida.
After releasing three albums under the Hunger Games series title, Rod gained nationwide fame after releasing “Heart on Ice” in 2019. The track, a single for his album PTSD, reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 TikTok with support and a viral Genius live performance.
Rod continued to receive critical acclaim with the release of “Ghetto Gospel” in November 2019 and “Pray 4 Love” in April of the following year.
In June 2020, he survived potentially life-threatening injuries after crashing into a pole at over 100 miles per hour. While recovering from an internal brain hemorrhage, he reflected on his trauma in the song "Through the Wire." Pain, past and present, remains a recurring theme in his music.
In 2021, Rod released SoulFly, a 19-track project supported by the singles "Street Runner" and "Tombstone". SoulFly was Rod's first number one album on the Billboard 200 charts. He reached the top of the Billboard 200 again with the release of Beautiful Mind in 2022 and again with Nostalgia in 2023.
