This is my full review for Sledgehammer's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023)" Single Player Campaign.

Like last year's Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III failed to impress. The game leans even further into recycling elements built for the series' popular Battle Royale mode, "Warzone" - introducing new "Open Combat" missions that replace the series' signature scripted action for something more akin to a Far Cry stealth-action experience, and to poor effect.

This is not a remake of MW3, but it also fails to surpass those older games either, paying homage to classic scenes while making them smaller in scale and less ambitious overall.

I went in expecting less, after last years incredibly disappointing MWII, and the year before that - "Vanguard." But I also recognize that a big reason for the drop in quality is the incredibly short timeframe given to Sledgehammer games to put together this campaign experience. It's serviceable for anyone looking for more content to go along with the upcoming multiplayer content, but highly ill-advised for players on a budget.

This just isn't worthy of the "Call of Duty" title.
