This list shows how tastes and views have changed over the years and hopefully for the better! It is frightening to think that some of these shows ran for years and were watched by millions, who neither realized nor cared that what they were seeing was at times totally inappropriate.
Swearing, drinking, and smoking have more or less disappeared from our television screens, as well as (to a large degree) sexism and racism. But fresh challenges are starting to emerge, like how to fairly and realistically portray members of the LGBTQ community.
