In part four of my L.A. Vlog, I visited Sony Pictures Studios located in Culver City, California and took their studio tour. The studio houses Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, and Screen Gems. The complex was the original studio of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) from 1924 to 1986 and Lorimar-Telepictures from 1986 to 1989. In addition to films shot at the facility, several television shows have been broadcast live or taped here. The lot currently houses a total of sixteen separate sound stages. While pictures and videos are prohibited in the sound stages with the exception of the Jeopardy studio, there are a couple areas which include the memorabilia room where are you are free to take pictures or videos. One of my favorite TV shows of all times is the Goldbergs and I was so happy that we were able to tour the set. The show has wrapped up its ninth season of production so there are tarps over parts of the set to protect it. While standing there on the set I was thinking of how cool it was to be standing on the set of one of my favorite TV shows which I have fantasized about when I was a kid growing up in the Midwest. It's amazing how small the sets are as well as being completely indoors and how they can use Hollywood magic to make it seem like a normal house as well as the lighting they use to create daylight. I'm absolutely fascinated by movie and TV productions. I took a couple quick pictures when no one was looking as I couldn't resist and I wanted to be able to look at the pictures later on to compare them to the TV show and see if I can notice the backdrops and appreciate how they bring the show to life. Part of the tour also looks at the replica of the Seinfeld apartment. We were able to also tour through the Alex Trebek studio where Jeopardy is filmed. I was able to record the film guide giving some really cool information about the show. Right across the way was where they film Wheel of Fortune but we did not have time to visit it. The tour takes about two hours and we were already at 2 hours and 45 minutes and loving every minute of it. Another of my all-time favorite TV shows is Breaking Bad. If you are a fan of the show, you will love seeing the memorabilia from the show that they have here as they actually have Walter White's Pontiac Aztec and the famous RV.
