In this episode, we share our personal experiences around the game changing effect of having your child’s cancer treated at a children’s hospital. In a nutshell: Children are not little adults, and therefore, should not be treated as such.

The benefits of centering care in an environment designed for a child, and more importantly working with a team who is specialized in the nuances of a child’s diagnosis – which is very different from an adult’s disease, even of the same type.

From the correct supplies to the expertise in pediatric diseases to the urgency and flexibility to accommodate children’s different needs, we get into it.

Also, providing strategies and direction to help you advocate and find resources to get to a children’s hospital (or a different children’s hospital) if you feel your child is not getting the right care at their current hospital.

We hope this conversation gives you reassurance or insight into the impacts of where your child is treated.

Did you switch hospitals to get to a children’s hospital? What piece about being at a children’s hospital did you appreciate most that you think is so important for our kids and families navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis?

Extra special thank you to Dr. Suzanne Reed for sharing your perspective for this conversation!!
