In 2022 Head of playstation Jim Ryan laid bare the future plans for playstation to enter the live service space. With the intention for the publisher publicly committing to release up to 10 live service games by the end of fiscal year 2025. With the brand making many purchases to assist in these ambitions such as bungie, haven and firesprite. within 18 months of this public declaration the live service initiative has seemingly fell apart internally.
