Here's a take on this timeless classic! Hope you enjoy it! :)

Another live performance for y'all, brought you by the UST Jazz Band. This one was performed at my school during a university expo event! I am thrilled to play Video Game Music at my school and have people enjoy it!

There are probably countless renditions of this song. It's perhaps the equivalent of "Wonderwall," but for VGM. But it is undoubtedly one of the most influential and iconic songs that define the video game music scene, and I will never get sick of it! (hopefully LOL)

This arrangement is heavily inspired by Intransito & Orchestra's arrangement of the same song, and probably one of the underrated ones, too! I suggest you guys check it out! The 1-1 theme already had sort of a Latin feel, to begin with, so I wanted to expand that even more.

The arrangement is split into two parts: the first part is the Overworld theme (1-1), and the second part is the Underground theme (1-2). I wanted to do both songs and have it arranged as if you were playing the game. After you reach the flagpole in 1-1, you enter a pipe that takes you to 1-2. then, at the end, you return to the surface to finish the level. Kinda like the 8 Bit Big Band's Super Mario Medley, where it's scoring actual gameplay. In the 1-2 part, I wanted to bring out an aggressive jazz fusion vibe, so I let our guitar player absolutely shred on this one! (and also me, LOL) Overall, the musicians here sound great! BIG SHOUT OUT TO THEM! ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Trumpet - Rhoxene Octaviano
Alto Sax - Rienzi Chris Olivarez
Trombone - Almira Cardenas

Piano/Synthesizer - Yours Truly, lol!
Guitar - Daryl Jazz Luma-as
Bass - Juan Marco Torres
Drums - Angelo Gabriel Lapuz

Also, fun fact: my first video game cover was this song, recorded using Audacity, and I remember having so little knowledge about recording and editing cover videos; it makes me absolutely cringe looking back to it, HAHA! But I am glad to pick up this song again!

I hope you enjoy this medley from the music of Super Mario Bros! ā¤ļø
