Just a short 30 minute drive from downtown San Diego, CA is the Tijuana River Valley Regional Park Campground.

You take I-5 South, exit #3 to Tocayo Ave, make left onto Hollister, drive all the way to the T intersection, then make a right onto Monument. The campground is just 1+ more miles on the right.
