Revolutionizing Non-Surgical Weight Loss: Introducing the COMET Study

The COMET research project focuses on a pioneering weight loss treatment: Endoscopic Gastric Mucosal Ablation (GMA). Unlike traditional methods, GMA doesn't require surgery. Instead, it is performed endoscopically, offering a less invasive alternative.

Building upon our past success with the ABLATE Weight study, where we ablated the fundus of the stomach, COMET delves deeper. The study's objective is to ablate up to 70% of the stomach lining. Our ultimate aim? A transformative endoscopic procedure for patients with obesity, targeting the hormonally active gastric mucosa (known for producing hunger hormones) through thermal ablation. Our vision is to achieve significant weight loss without the need for any suturing, staples, or cutting.

Key details about the COMET study:

We're currently accepting participants.
- Participants will undergo two ablation procedures, spaced eight weeks apart.
- We will monitor participants for 12 months post-procedure to evaluate GMA's efficacy.
- All treatments are free of charge, and participants will receive compensation for their valuable time.
- Our hypothesis is bold and promising: we believe that by endoscopically removing the gastric mucosa, we can mimic the results of surgery, but without the invasive process. However, our beliefs will be put to the test as we collect data and analyze results in this comprehensive research study.

If you reside near Raleigh or our Cary, NC practice, we invite you to participate in this groundbreaking research. For more details and enrollment information, see below!
