In this video I have some friends, Anthony and Bryan, come to help me do some preliminary maintenance on the new-to-me 2000 Tahoe Z71.

We did a lot of work and we were outside for a good portion of the day. Hours most likely. I got started and worked on the following before they arrived. I took the wheels off, checked the oil, replaced the wiper blades (with the wrong size), and filled and tested to make sure the washer system still worked. I also managed to test fit a 15-inch wheel to make sure it would clear the front and rear brakes. With help we were able to get the last wheel off.

We bled the breaks to the best of our ability without any special tools and did get some air out of the system. We did a deep clean of the interior. We also changed the oil. You wouldn’t believe me if I didn’t have it on video, but there was maybe 2 quarts of oil in that engine!

After all that was done we took the Tahoe to the car wash and drove it around. We even found a Fleetwood Mac CD in the CD player that we didn’t know was there. The truck did develop a small radiator leak which I will address later. It isn’t perfect just yet, but it is ten times cleaner than when I brought it home.
