The video shows the Trollhaugen observatory. It is located approximately 1 km east of the Troll research station,
in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica. The location is 72 degrees south and 1553 meters above sea level, between the Antarctic plateau and the coast.

NILU – Norwegian Institute for Air Research established their first observatory in Antarctica in January 2007. In 2014 it was moved to "Trollhaugen" to avoid influence from local pollution. The view from Trollhaugen is amazing!

The installations on the roof are different measuring instruments and intakes for air samples. At Trollhaugen NILU measures more than 30 different climate gases, amongst those CO2 and methane. We also measure particles, UV radiation, the ozone layer, and transport of environmental contaminants and other pollutants.

NILU is one of the few institutions in the world that conduct atmospheric research at both “poles": At the Zeppelin Mountain in Ny Ålesund, Svalbard and at Trollhaugen. That gives us the opportunity to compare measurement results from the two "extremes".
