Chris Hogg is a former England age-group international who is now the Newcastle United Under-23 lead coach. In a full training session filmed exclusively for CV Academy, he took his players through a series of four practices aimed at developing the team’s defensive transitions when losing possession in build-up play.

In this excerpt from the third of the four practices, Hogg focuses on the positioning of the back six (a back four and two central midfielders) and goalkeeper when playing out from the back, to ensure they are well positioned to react to a turnover.
