2024 is truly the year of elections, and Russia is no exception. On March 17th, Russia will conduct its 2024 presidential election. Putin's Russia is already known for not having the most fair and honest elections, and in the midst of the war and Ukraine and the increased censorship in Russia, this year's election is extra special and restricted: Vladimir Putin will face against 4 hand-picked fake candidates in the presidential race. Anti-war candidates such as Yekaterina Duntsova and Boris Nadezhdin were also not allowed to run. So, who is Putin running against? Why does the 2024 Russian election matter?
