LLCs, or Limited Liability Companies, are a type of business entity that is recognized in all 50 states. It’s also what we call a hybrid entity because it combines the advantages of both corporations and partnerships. This means that an LLC has some of the same protections as corporations do such as limited liability protection for its owners and managers. However, it also has the pass-through tax treatment of a partnership or sole proprietorship, which means profits made by an LLC are not taxed at the corporate level but rather passed through to each owner’s personal tax return.
