Dr. Penney Stringer 's Bio:
Dr. Penney Stringer is a board-certified family physician and certified functional medicine physician specializing in root-cause treatment of digestive, hormonal, and metabolic imbalances for women. Her education is grounded in both traditional and integrative medicine.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, her MD from Georgetown University, and her residency from a UC Davis family practice program, she has dedicated the last 20 years of her career to delving deeply into the practice of functional medicine- a patient-centered healthcare approach that addresses the unique interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle causes of complex, chronic illness. In addition, she has a strong interest in acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, and other modalities of energy medicine and incorporates them into her healing plans for her patients.

Awestruck is a word she uses often to describe her observation of the resilience of the human spirit to heal in the midst of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. She loves helping her patients to cultivate their own inner physician as much as she loves helping to facilitate the healing power of community.

She believes, based on her own health challenges as well as those of her patients, that when the student is ready, the teacher always appears.

She has a passion for teaching her patients about the innate healing abilities of the body/mind/spirit and for finding the most gentle and effective treatments that address the root cause. She is a strong advocate of nutritional therapies and utilizes functional testing (including comprehensive hormonal, genetic, gut microbiome, nutritional and immune testing ) when needed to uncover specific imbalances in biochemical pathways that are critical to optimal health and wellness. This approach is especially well-suited for patients who are ready and willing to take responsibility for their own health and lifestyle choices. She has long questioned the notion that we have to deteriorate as we age and offers specific lifestyle strategies to help her patients thrive at every stage of their lives.

When she is not sharing her passion for healing with her patients, you will find her spending time with her daughters, her family, and friends, dreaming up her next exotic off-the-beaten-track adventure, enjoying Nature, climbing mountains, backpacking, hanging out in her garden with her naughty chickens, practicing yoga, dancing, or simply exploring fully what it means to be an unbounded human spirit residing in a human body.
