At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, most flight operations across the globe came to a halt.

However, the biggest winners of this were primarily budget airlines, especially in the US, as they greatly expanded their presence on domestic routes, particularly for short-distance flights.

It’s no surprise then that most analysts expected low cost carriers to really take off once the pandemic restrictions were off.

But things haven’t quite gone as planned and it now even looks like US low and ultra-low-cost carriers might be in big trouble.
