This is perhaps my favorite picking-hand technique for bass, and when I got it into my muscle memory and started feeling totally comfortable playing any music with it, it opened up a whole new dimension to my sound and my range.

Make sure you don't rush into it if it's totally new to you. New techniques take time to start working, and can easily lead to injury if you overdo it right out of the gate.
