Welcome to another edition of #thepacereport featuring guitar virtuoso Jackie Venson.

Over the last decade, Austin, Texas native Jackie Venson has been one of the country's most intriguing rock and blues guitarists. Her records "Evolution of Joy", "Love Transcends", and "Joy" showcase her deep passion for Black American Music via some of her heroes including BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Jackie started playing and eventually studied Classical Piano, where she attended and graduated from the famed Berklee School of Music in Boston. She was tired of the piano and later switched to the guitar. It was the guitar where Jackie found her voice and hasn't looked back.

Most of Jackie's music fans remember her during the COVID-19 pandemic where she posted live video performances that gained a new legion of fans. She's also been featured on PBS's critically-acclaimed music television show "Austin City Limits;".

Jackie recently played to a sold-out standing-room performance at New York City's Hill Country. We sat down to discuss her meteoric success, and her role as a bandleader, and reflect on her musical influences.
