Xi said the world had entered a period of 'turbulence and change' adding: 'As two important forces in the world, China and Europe should adhere to their partnership positioning ... and healthy development of China-Europe relations.'
Macron and Von der Leyen echoed Xi in their statements. Macron said: 'The international situation, very clearly, requires this Euro-Chinese dialogue more than ever and, I expressed it again recently in my speech about our Europe, we are at a turning point in our history'.
