[FR] Situé sous les fenêtres et dans le jardin du Palais Fédéral, siège du gouvernement Suisse, le funiculaire du Marzili à été mis en service le 18 juillet 1885.
De 1885 à 1973, il s'agissait d'un ascenseur à ballast d'eau, un réservoir de la station de montagne était rempli d'eau d'un ruisseau de la ville
En 1914, le système a été révisé pour l'exposition Nationale. Deux nouveaux wagons ont été achetés, d'une capacité initiale de 18 personnes puis plus tard de 30 personnes grâce à un réservoir d'eau supplémentaire.
L'infrastructure à été rénovée plusieurs fois, d'abord entre 1944 et 1949 puis entièrement refaite et électrifiée en 1973/74.
Entre fin 2014 et début 2015 la voie et les ponts en acier ont été refais à neuf.

The infrastructure has been renovated several times, first between 1944 and 1949 then completely redone and electrified in 1973/74. Between the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 the track and the steel bridges were refurbished.
