I like to use a salt and pepper based rub at a minimum or at least a starting point, and that EXACTLY what I did with my homemade rub:

2 TBSP Coarse Black Pepper
1 TBSP Salt
1 TBSP Lawry's Seasoned Salt. ( https://amzn.to/3x0uyI5 )
1 TBSP Granulated Garlic
1 tsp Granulated Onion
1 tsp Paprika
1.5 tsp Brown Sugar

For this oven ribs recipe we are using St. Louis Cut Spare Ribs that I picked up from Costco. I start by trimming the ribs and removing the membrane. I used olive oil as a binder and I seasoned these with my homemade seasoning, but you can use any that you'd like! Just be cautious with rubs containing higher levels of sugar as they can burn. Place them into your preheated oven on the bake setting at 350F for 2 hours.... now they aren't done at 2 hours, but that is when we begin to apply the toothpick test to check for tenderness. Once the ribs reach the desired tenderness (Mine was about 2 hours 55min), you remove them, increase the temperature to 450F, sauce both sides of the ribs, and return them to the oven once it has reached 450F. This step can vary is length but its usually only 2-6min to get the sauce to caramelize at this temperate. Once caramelized, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before enjoying!
