This song is a revisit of an OpenMPT tune I originally made back in 2018. At the time I made the original version, I was having self-doubts about my original music, so it had a somber tone to it. I decided to transform this into a rave-type thing I tend to do nowadays. This revisit has had a nearly 12-month development. I originally started this on SNES sometime towards the end of August 2022 before deciding to switch it to the OPNA in September 2022 after running out of space on the SNES DSP (from trying to cram in as many samples as I can). I decided to take what I learned with making SSG-EG snares on the YM2612 and apply it to the YM2608, so I used no custom samples here. As the YM2608 lacks any distortion (since on the PC-88 and PC-98, it relies an external DAC whereas the YM2612 distortion comes from its builtin DAC), I supplemented the FM percussion with RSS percussion to make them more punchy. This also means that the song should play on a YMF288/OPN3, which is essentially a YM2608 without the custom ADPCM channel. I got around 2 minutes of it done before Hurricane Ian displaced me and my family, so this song sat in the backburner for a long long while. I decided to pick this up again last week, make some changes to what I already had there, and then continue it from there. And now, here we are, with a fully revisited song.
