The G-882 Marine Magnetometer is the leading marine magnetometer system in the industry, and the only magnetometer that meets the standards required for UXO clearance in the North Sea.

When changing the pigtail cable on a G-882, you'll need to remove the nose cone and access the bulkhead of the instrument. This process varies depending on whether the G-882 you're working with has an altimeter or not. This video shows the process of replacing the pigtail with an G-882 without an altimeter attachment, but with an "altimeter-ready" nose cone.

The pigtail is a short jumper cable that is used to provide a connection point for the tow cable to the 882 bulkhead. Note - this cable is routed inside the nose assembly, and the scope of this video is to show how to remove the nose and to replace this cable if needed. On G-882's that have an altimeter module mounted, there is a second pigtail mounted internally within the nose. In this video this is not shown.

Upon request Geometrics can provide an Altitude Echo-Sounder module mounted within the magnetometer tow body which integrates with the magnetometer data transmission. Altimeters are rated for either 300 meters or 4000 meters maximum depth. We offer 30, 50, and 100 m range units.
Resolution is 1% of full scale accuracy.
