The making of “People”—a song about struggling through a mental low—was like a “very productive therapy session” for Afro-soul singer-songwriter Libianca. Now she hopes her 2022 breakout single can have a similar effect on others. “I hope that my supporters understand from this song that it’s okay to not be okay,” she tells Genius. “It’s okay to be sick of it. Just feel. Feel those emotions.”

The beat on “People” was cooked up by Mage the Producer, whom Libianca found through YouTube. Since its arrival, the song has racked up over 45 million Spotify streams alone.
