I was watching a school of minnows swimming in the creek, when suddenly a snake shot through the water and grabbed one of them! I wish I had been recording when the strike occurred.
I never saw the snake eat the fish; it slithered under some rocks after a few minutes. Being eaten by a predator is the natural way for the life cycle of a fish to end. The snake will likely be eaten someday by a bird or other predator. I was glad to see that the creek is supporting so many kinds of life!
