It is difficult for the U.S.-led West, which has preached the world to stay away from Russian energy amid Ukraine war, to ditch Russian gas itself. Currently, there are no sanctions on import of Russian Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) and hence many European Union nations continue to supply it. President Vladimir Putin's ally and counterpart Xi Jinping met with the PM of Spain, which is the leading importer of Russian gas.
