A birchbark canoe made its way back to Lake Mendota after a 10-year stint on display at Dejope residence hall. The canoe's maker is Wayne Valliere (Mino-giizhig in Ojibwe) of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and he was on hand to paddle the vessel and give a few lucky UW–Madison students an experience of a lifetime.
