We live in an era of extraordinary climate injustice.

The impacts of the climate crisis are deepening already existing vulnerabilities and inequalities within and across generations, communities and countries worldwide. Low-income, marginalised, discriminated and disenfranchised groups are disproportionately affected. Climate hazards, shocks and stresses are becoming more frequent and severe as global heating accelerates.

Industrialised, wealthy countries do not live up to their historical and current responsibilities. The responsibility for the climate crisis is unevenly distributed.

Climate justice is a movement that calls for a rapid, just transition to a low-carbon world – a transition that boosts human rights rather than undermines them.
