In this Tedx Talks, Educator/Filmmaker/Actress Kathy Uyen speaks about her journey of moving to Vietnam from California, and how her emotional journey to overcome her weaknesses has helped her to achieve success in multiple careers all evolving from the passion for Acting. Kathy Uyen is an award winning film actress, starring in top Vietnamese box office feature films, Director of award winning feature film, Founder/CEO of A.C.T Academy, leading Acting Academy and Take1, Vietnam’s First Talent Network platform.



PRIMARY: By sharing to audiences a course chart titled “Character’s Emotional Why”, a chart primarily used for coaching and helping actors prepare for a leading role in a feature film, Kathy personally dissects her own personality and character biography to share to the audiences the core emotional why and motivation behind her personal public works. This emotional why of “Not Being Good Enough” unintentionally has fueled her drive to complete her past projects, but it was her realization of the emotional why and her perceived weaknesses, that inspired change within her from Actress/Filmmakers to Educator to intentionally choose to bring VALUE to others, while bringing VALUE to herself.
Kathy Uyen is a Vietnamese-American Film Director, Actress and Co-Founder/CEO of A.C.T Academy. Kathy with A.C.T Academy has strived for advancement and contribution to Vietnam's cinema with lifetime works as well as outstanding actors under her talented guidance.
On the passionate acting path, Kathy has achieved remarkable achievements. 2009's "Passport to Love" became Kathy's first film in Vietnam to win the Golden Kite Award for Best Supporting Actress in Vietnam. A year later, she continued to leave an impression in the heart of the audience via the role of "Mai", creating the box office phenomenon "Fool to Love".
It is impossible not to mention "Chi Chi Em Em", a psychological thriller, taken on by Kathy as Co-Writer and Director. It was Vietnam’s highest anticipated thriller film of 2020, with top-grossing box office and was invited to have its International Premiere at the Busan International Film Festival 2020.
