At a moment when it is difficult to imagine how we can make a dent in the world’s pain, Father Phil – who recently returned from war-torn Ukraine – reminds us that bearing witness to the suffering and pain of others, and searching for the ways we can make a difference, is how we embrace the Gospel. “Whatsoever you did to the least of these my children, you’ve done to me,” he said, quoting Matthew 25:40. “Perhaps the time has come for us to put aside cataloging the sins of our country in favor of marshaling our strengths.”
