A fine display of speed by the Ghaziabad WAP7 hauled 12260 New Delhi Sealdah Duronto Express, as it crosses the Ganga (technically Hooghly) at Dakshineshwar via the Vivekananda Bridge. The train absolutely thunders through the tiny stations of Bally Halt and Bally Ghat and blasts through the Vivekananda Bridge at 100 kmph flat! In all my years of travel in this section, I have never encountered such high speed action here. Trains normally do around 50-60 kmph. The tracks themselves are quite unstable and the train jerks violently as it proceeds through this section. But I guess, that's the meaning of being 'Duronto!'
